Commercial Property in Uncertain Times – Finding Flexibility in Leases (29 June)

  • Posted

Coronavirus has left both landlords and tenants in a predicament. While landlords seek to recover rent and keep occupancy rates high, tenants face financial difficulties and may be re-evaluating their need for or use of commercial space. These commercial decisions are difficult to make while we are still in a period of turbulence. Some sectors are thriving and looking to take on more commercial space.

During this webinar, the solicitors from Longmores will talk about the options available to both commercial tenants and commercial property owners.

John Wagstaffe will outline the current Government restrictions in place to protect tenants from forfeiture and the Commercial Rent Arrears (CRAR) scheme.

Helen Bunting will discuss where you can find flexibility in existing leases before a tenant makes the decision to reduce or end occupation. This will include an overview of Covid clauses, rent concessions and alternative rent structures that may be available. She will also cover the legal considerations when making alterations to facilitate distanced working practices and how to change the use of commercial premises.

Agata Marosz will provide a review of the methods available to terminate or transfer leases.

At the beginning of the webinar there will be a brief networking session to help you get to know the speakers and other delegates. We encourage everybody to join in and switch on your cameras.

After the presentation there will be a Q&A when delegates are invited to ask their questions, however big or small. You can also submit a question in advance when booking your place.
