Miranda Nixon

Trainee Solicitor

Miranda joined Longmores in June 2020 as a paralegal in the Family department and is now a Trainee Solicitor.

Miranda assists the Commercial team across Employment, Dispute Resolution and Company Commercial on a variety of matters including attending meetings to take notes, corresponding with clients, preparing documents and helping solicitors and barristers prepare for hearings.

Since she began her training contract, she has gained experience in:

  • Preparing hearing bundles
  • Drafting contracts of employment, employment tribunal claims and responses, letters before claim and letters of negotiation
  • Attending court and employment tribunal hearings
  • Briefing counsel to represent clients at hearings

Miranda really enjoys meeting and talking to clients and counsel, which is handy as she takes a leading role in client communication.

Bringing a practical, problem-solving mindset to her role, Miranda is really enjoying supporting the commercial tepartment and the variety her job offers.

Previously Miranda was part of our Family team where she gained considerable experience in divorce, finance and child matters. Miranda was the one updating clients and liked to offer sympathetic support at what was often a very difficult period in people’s lives.

Career

Miranda has a First Class Law degree from the University of Hertfordshire and passed the LPC with Distinction (also at the University of Hertfordshire).

Her experience includes a mini pupillage at a leading London Barristers’ Chambers, providing legal advice to a charity and time at another law firm assisting with matters including probate, personal injury, family law, employment law and civil litigation.

Community

Miranda has previously volunteered as a Legal Advisor for the charities Be Kind Movement and 28 Too Many.

Personal interests

Outside of work, Miranda loves reading, art and playing badminton (with more enthusiasm than skill).
