HR Forum: Sexual Harassment in the Workplace
Sexual harassment in the workplace can take many forms and can range from inappropriate behaviour and unwanted attention to a workplace flirtation gone wrong. It can be very distressing for those being harassed. As an employer, it is important that you know your responsibilities and liabilities under the current law.
As of October 2024, employers now have a positive legal duty to take reasonable steps to protect their employees from sexual harassment. Employers’ legal obligations are likely to increase under the forthcoming Employment Rights Bill.
During the seminar, Richard Gvero and Miranda Mulligan from Longmores Solicitors Employment team will explain what has changed and what action you need to take within your businesses. Their presentation will cover:
- The nature and extent of the duty for employers to take reasonable steps to protect their employees from sexual harassment
- How and where it applies
- What employers need to do to meet their legal obligations
- Likely future changes to the law.
A Q&A session will follow the presentation when delegates can ask their questions.
This event will be useful for HR directors, managers and business owners who are responsible for employing staff.
