Partnership for Property Litigator John Wagstaffe

In January 2020, John Wagstaffe, Head of Property Litigation at Longmores Solicitors became a Partner of the firm.

John joined the firm as a trainee in 2009 and qualified in 2011. He has specialised in property litigation for the last nine years. His progression through the ranks has also seen him establish and grow a new department for the firm dedicated to advice on property related issues.

John is passionate about property and acts for a wide range of clients with property interests including management companies and managing agents, investors, developers, private owners, rural landowners, and both commercial and residential landlords and tenants. His particular specialism is in advising landlords, management companies and managing agents about legal issues in connection with apartment blocks.

John has extensive experience of acting in all manner of disputes concerning property, from providing advice with a view to avoiding litigation, to resolving disputes through mediation, and to litigating cases in the Courts. He is a member of the Property Litigation Association and has been recognised by The Legal 500 since 2017.

One of John’s most notable cases was in 2018 when acting for a management company in an appeal at the High Court. The judge found in favour of John’s client and a policy of not permitting pets in a residential block of flats.

John’s appointment increases the number of Partners at Longmores to ten for the first time in the firm’s 200 year history.
